We are looking for an experienced operating room nurse specializing in orthopedics (THR/TKR) to join our dynamic team in Laval!
Preoperative Phase
Preparation of surgical equipment specific to orthopedic surgery: THR, TKR, APU. (implants, orthopedic instruments, etc.)
Verification of the traceability of medical devices
Patient reception and verification of their identity, medical file, and consent
Preparation of the operating room according to aseptic standards
Intraoperative phase
The nurse can play several roles:
Internal service:
Transmits instruments to the surgeon
Anticipates the steps of the procedure
Ensures sterility and the organization of the procedure Areas of Expertise
Participates in the surgical count and tally
External Service:
Opens equipment in a sterile manner for the inpatient ward
Manages unforeseen events during the procedure (missing equipment, emergencies)
Maintains communication with other departments
Participates in the surgical count and tally
Writes surgical notes
Technical Assistance (if trained and authorized):
Assists the surgeon according to practices authorized by the OIIQ and the OIAQ
Maintaining retractors, assisting with hemostasis, assisting with intraoperative mobilization, etc.
Postoperative Phase
Prior patient monitoring with the anesthesia team until transfer to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU)
Transmission of information to the postoperative care team
Prior cleaning of the operating room with the team and replenishment of supplies
Documentation and traceability of procedures and devices used
Required Skills
In-depth knowledge of anatomy and surgical techniques related to orthopedics
Mastery of aseptic and safety protocols
Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
Vigilance and rigor in task execution
Desired Profile
You possess:
More than 4 years of experience in the operating room, particularly in orthopedics (THR/TKR)
A completed DEC or a bachelor's degree in nursing
A valid license to practice of the OIIQ
Excellent command of French and an intermediate level of English
A desire to be actively involved in a stimulating environment
Strong interpersonal and professional skills
The following skills will be considered assets:
Experience in surgical assistance
Good knowledge of CSA, PCI, and ISO standards
Compensation
$40/hour to $58/hour
Schedule
Day shift, Monday to Friday
