Under the supervision of the environmental manager, you will perform various technical tasks including: field inspections to identify and confirm potential planting and restoration sites for natural environments; based on environmental issues, identifying needs and recommendations to ensure optimal conditions for project implementation; monitoring projects completed in previous years, developing technical specifications, and overseeing contracts and assisting partner organizations and stakeholders involved in the projects.
Greening measures and sustainable infrastructure:
Contribute to the establishment of tree planting projects and the integration of permeable surfaces to increase urban canopy, reduce heat islands, and improve stormwater management.
Restoration of natural environments:
Participate in the fight against invasive exotic species, enhance ecological cores and corridors, and develop green and blue spaces to improve the resilience of these ecosystems to climate change.
- Hold a DEC in forestry technology or natural environment techniques or other relevant training for the position;
- Have two (2) years of relevant experience related to planting and restoration projects for natural environments;
- Ability to recognize tree and shrub species and plants as well as determine the needs to ensure optimal conditions for planting and restoration;
- Expertise in writing technical specifications, including defining needs, selecting species, and describing implementation methods;
- Knowledge in maintenance, inspection, and evaluation of planting and restoration projects for natural environments;
- Knowledge in geomatics;
- Knowledge of provincial and municipal regulations regarding natural environments (watercourses, wetlands, shorelines, urban forests, and others) (an asset);
- Good knowledge of the Laval territory (an asset);
- Possess a valid class 5 driver's license.
