Senior, Fire Protection Engineer
LAPORTE is looking for a Senior Fire Protection Engineer with ideally 7 to 10 years of experience in the design and implementation of fire protection systems, to join our team in Toronto. The selected candidate will actively contribute to large-scale industrial projects and ensure the quality and compliance of fire protection systems across a variety of manufacturing environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with applicable standards (NFPA, NFC, and local regulations);
- Design fire protection systems (sprinklers, suppression systems);
- Prepare technical documents: drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations;
- Provide technical support during construction: coordination, inspections, and commissioning;
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, process, building) to integrate fire protection systems into projects;
- Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and partners to ensure quality and compliance with requirements;
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and professionals within project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Building Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant specialization;
- Licence Engineer of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) ;
- 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in fire protection, ideally within the industrial sector;
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NFPA, NFC);
- Ability to manage complete projects, from design through commissioning;
- Excellent communication skills; bilingualism (French/English) is an asset;
- NFPA membership and/or CFPS designation are considered strong assets.
