We are looking for an experienced operating room nurse with experience in orthopedics – THR/TKR to join our dynamic team in Laval!
Preoperative Phase
Preparation of surgical equipment specific to orthopedic surgery: THR, TKR, UKA. (implants, orthopedic instruments, etc.)
Verification of the traceability of medical devices
Reception of the patient and verification of their identity, medical records, and consent
Preparation of the operating room according to aseptic standards
Intraoperative phase
The nurse can play several roles:
Internal service:
Transmits the instruments to the surgeon
Anticipates the steps of the procedure
Ensures sterility and Organization of surgical fields
Participates in the surgical count and breakdown
Outpatient department:
Opens equipment in a sterile manner for the inpatient department
Manages unforeseen events during the procedure (missing equipment, emergencies)
Ensures communication with other departments
Participates in the surgical count and breakdown
Documents surgical notes
Technical assistant (if trained and authorized):
Assists the surgeon according to the practice authorized by the OIIQ and OIAQ
Maintaining retractors, assisting with hemostasis, assisting with intraoperative mobilization, etc.
Postoperative Phase
Patient monitoring in advance with the anesthesia team until transfer to the recovery room (SSPI)
Transmission of information to the postoperative care team
Cleaning of the room in advance with the team and restocking equipment
Documentation and traceability of procedures and devices used
Required Skills
In-depth knowledge of anatomy and surgical techniques related to Orthopedics
Mastery of aseptic and safety protocols
Ability to work under pressure and in a team
Vigilance and rigor in the execution of tasks
Required profile
You have:
More than 5 to 10 years of experience in the operating room, specifically in orthopedics (THA/TKA)
A completed DEC or BAC in nursing
A valid license OIIQ
Excellent command of French, and an intermediate level of English
A desire to be actively involved in a stimulating environment
Strong human, interpersonal, and professional skills
Will be considered assets:
Experience in surgical assistance
A good knowledge of CSA, PCI, and ISO standards
Compensation
$40/hour at $58/hour
Schedule
Daytime, Monday to Friday
